(About) Doula Right Thing Services
My passion for birth work and advocacy led me to become the doula I wanted to be. Through witnessing countless birthing persons, my love grew to be the best doula and advocate I could be. Doula Right Thing Services aims to make all birth experiences as positive and healthy as possible. Doula Right Thing Services provides for parents who need a birth doula, childbirth education, and postpartum care. Doula Right Thing also provides services for certified doulas who need additional mentorship, individuals interested in becoming doulas, and community awareness for self-advocacy.
My name is Rae Johnson-Bundy. I am a certified doula who has attended over 200+ births. I am a Birth and Postpartum doula trainer and a certified Lamaze childbirth educator. Doula Right Thing is also a partner for The Heart Truth® and Healthy Hearts Network and an IRTH ambassador. I have advocated for BIPOC birthing persons by attending Black Mamas Matter Health Conferences and continue to enhance my knowledge and education in birth and reproductive justice. I do yearly presentations for Professor Laura Shelton’s “Childbirth and Midwifery Across Time and Space” at Franklin and Marshall College.
I continue practicing advocacy, doing local presentations like “Birthing While Black and Brown.” While also presenting for (Wellspan Ephrata and UPMC Lititz) hospitals. I have informed on the “ Doula Down Low” for the Pennsylvania Nurse-Family Practitioners, which focused on how doulas and nurses work together to aid the birthing person.
For Lancaster City Human Relations Commission’s town hall, I was part of a symposium on, Separate but Equal?” A study on mistreatment in women’s healthcare. I’m a committee member for the new Lancaster LGBTQ+ health consortium. The focus is to change the gap in medical knowledge of LGBTQ+ healthcare issues by vetting medical practitioners on their competency and connecting vetted practitioners.
I was a guest speaker on WITF’s innovative talk program, Concerned in (quality maternal health care for all women is a growing concern, doulas help to make a positive difference).
I will continue to advocate and support individuals interested in Doula Right Thing’s Services. by providing evidence-based information to my clients, students, and parents. I want all Doula Right Thing Services participants to feel confident in making informed decisions regarding their journey in the birth world.
